If you’re seeking employment in a medical group, here are a few tasks and responsibilities you can expect to perform on a regular basis.Administrative DutiesOftentimes, medical assistants working in small and large medical groups will perform a variety of administrative tasks. You may be asked to answer phones, greet patients, manage patient medical records, fill out insurance forms, schedule appointments and more. You might also be responsible for coordinating patient flow, such as notifying the physician of the patient\u2019s arrival, staying alert to delays and communicating with both patients and staff. These administrative duties are essential to the day-to-day functioning of a medical group.Clinical DutiesWhen not working in the reception area of a doctor\u2019s office, you may be tasked with clinical duties. Typically, you\u2019ll work by the physician\u2019s side. You may be responsible for taking medical histories, preparing patients for the examination, performing basic lab tests, informing patients of treatments, medications and diets, administering certain tests and drawing blood.
